Previous Year NEET Question- Lcr Circuit Applications

  • Q. An alternating voltage of 220 V, 50 Hz is applied across a capacitor of capacitance 2µF. Calculate the rms value of current flowing through it. (NEET 2015)
The answer is 11 mA.

The formula for the rms value of current through a capacitor is: I_rms = V_rms / X_C

Irms = (Vrms) / (Xc)

In this case, we have:

Vrms = 220 V C = 2µF = 2 * 10^-6 F

So, the rms value of current is:

Irms = (220 V * √2) / (2 * 10^-6 F) = 11 mA
