The tidal force is the difference in the gravitational force between the near side of the Earth and the far side of the Earth. This is because the near side of the Earth is closer to the Moon than the far side of the Earth, so the gravitational force of the Moon is stronger on the near side of the Earth than on the far side of the Earth. This difference in gravitational force causes the Earth’s oceans and solid surface to bulge out.
