2019: Commensalism is a type of symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits while the other is unaffected. Lichens, mycorrhizae, and mutualism are all examples of symbiotic relationships.
2018: Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the most common fungus used in the production of bread. It is a yeast that is able to ferment sugars into alcohol, which is what gives bread its characteristic flavor.
2017: Aspergillus niger is a fungus that is used in the production of citric acid. It is able to produce large amounts of citric acid through fermentation.
2016: Saccharomyces cerevisiae is not a biocontrol agent. Biocontrol agents are organisms that are used to control pests and diseases. Trichoderma harzianum, Bacillus thuringiensis, and Pseudomonas fluorescens are all examples of biocontrol agents.
