  • 2019: The correct answer is (B).

The potential energy of a body is given by U = mgh. The change in potential energy of the body is ΔU = mg(h2 - h1). When the body is taken from the surface of the earth to a height h above the surface of the earth, the change in potential energy of the body is ΔU = mg(h - 0) = mgh.
