PYQ NEET- Natural And Artificial Satellites

2017:

A satellite is moving around the earth in a circular orbit with a uniform speed. If the gravitational force suddenly disappears, the satellite will move in a straight line tangent to the orbit.

This is because the centripetal force required to keep the satellite in orbit is provided by the gravitational force between the earth and the satellite. If the gravitational force suddenly disappears, the centripetal force will also disappear, and the satellite will no longer be in orbit. However, the satellite will still have its own momentum, and it will continue to move in a straight line. Since the satellite is not in orbit anymore, it will not be moving in a circular path. However, it will still be moving at the same speed that it was moving when it was in orbit.

2018:

The escape velocity of a body from the earth’s surface is 11.2 km/s. A body is projected with a speed of 22.4 km/s from the earth’s surface. The maximum height attained by the body is:

The maximum height attained by the body is:

h = (v^2 - v_e^2)/2
