Emission Spectrum

What is Emission Spectrum?

An emission spectrum is a plot of the intensity of light emitted by a substance as a function of its wavelength involving principles. It is a characteristic of the substance and can be used to identify it.

How is an Emission Spectrum Produced?

When an atom or molecule is excited, its electrons move to higher energy levels. When the electrons return to their original energy levels, they emit light. The wavelength of the light emitted is determined by the difference in energy between the two energy levels.

X-Ray

X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation involving transfer.

How X-Rays Work

X-rays are produced when high- level, while others pass through. The amount of X-rays that are absorbed depends on the density of the object. Denser objects, such as bones, absorb more X-rays than less dense objects, such as soft tissue.

The X-rays that pass through the object are then detected by a special film or digital sensor. The film or sensor records the amount of X-rays that were absorbed by the object, creating an image of the inside of the body.
