  1. Here, in mononitration the electrophile produced from mixed acid $\left(HNO _3+\right.$ conc. $\left.H _2 SO _4\right)$ is $\stackrel{+}{N} O _2$.

Ring- $(A)$ is activated, i.e. becomes more nucleophilic by the $+R$ effect of the $-\ddot{N} H-$ group and it becomes $o / p$-directing towards the electrophile, $NO _2^{+}$in the $ArS _E 2$ reaction. For mononitration, $\stackrel{\oplus}{N} O _2$ will preferably come at p-position, whereas the ring- $(B)$ gets deactivated by $-R$ - effect of the alt text
